菅野選手は逆境を這い上がってきた。その諦めない生き方がカッコよく、すぐにファンになった。今はめちゃくちゃ応援している。

這い上がってきた野球人生

菅野選手はエリート街道を走ってきた選手だと思う。高校時代は東海大相模高校で甲子園優勝を経験。明治大学に進学し、四番打者を務めた。東京六大学野球の二塁打のリーグ記録も更新した。当然ながらドラフト候補と言われていた。

しかし、明治大学の同期の高山俊、坂本誠志郎（阪神タイガース）、上原健太（日本ハムファイターズ）がプロ入りする中、ドラフトから漏れてしまった。想像を絶する挫折を経験したと思う。

でも、そこで諦めずに二年後のプロ入りを目指して、日立製作所に入社。そして、ドラフト４位でプロ入りを果たした。

菅野選手は大学時代から知っていたし、ドラフトで指名されなかった時は衝撃的だった。だから、2年後のドラフトでも覚えていた。逆境を超えてきた選手は強いと思う。そんな素晴らしい選手がロッテに入団してくれた事がすごく嬉しかった。プロ野球の平均身長は180ｃｍと言われている。その中では小柄だか、身長をハンデとさせないプレーを菅野選手に見せてほしい。私も身長が170ｃｍで、菅野選手と身長が近いので活躍してくれると勇気をもらえる。

開幕戦のスタメンを勝ち取る

そんな菅野選手はオープン戦でも結果を残して、開幕戦は6番レフトでスタメン出場。プロ初ヒットも記録した。開幕してから三試合見てきたが、バッティングの対応力と積極的な走塁といい、本当に即戦力の選手。
