最近、帽子のツバがまっすぐのまま被っている選手をよく見かけます。流行らせたのは間違いなくニューエラキャップでしょう。

なので、帽子のツバが真っ直ぐなまま被るスタイルを勝手にニューエラスタイルと命名しています。

ニューエラキャップとは

ニューエラ社が販売している帽子の事。ニューエラ社はMLB(メジャーリーグ・ベースボール)唯一の公式選手用キャップサプライヤーです。1934年からMLB用キャップの製造を開始しています。

ニューエラスタイルはメジャーリーガーに多く見られ、ここ２、３年前から日本にも浸透してきました。日本球界でもDeNAベイスターズなどがニューエラ社の帽子を使用しています。

私達のチームも流行りに乗るためにニューエラ社の帽子を導入しようと思いました。しかし、ニューエラキャップは一般向けにオーダーメイドは対応していませんでした。。。

じゃあニューエラキャップに似ている帽子で作ろうと思い、色んなメーカーを見て回りました。今は、ほとんどのメーカーがニューエラキャップに似ている帽子を販売しています。

色んなメーカーをみた中で、ニューエラスタイルにする際の一押しメーカーを今回紹介します。

オプションによって金額も多少変わりますが、4,500円前後で購入できます。

私たちは、ワッフルメッシュのサンド無し、バックスタイルはノーマルで作りました。ワッフルメッシュの方がニューエラキャップの形に似ています。

サイズ選びは慎重に

気をつけてほしいのが帽子のサイズです。

ツバを曲げない被り方のため、帽子が小さく感じます。ワンサイズ大きい目がオススメです。M（55㎝～56㎝）サイズでは小さく感じました。

なので、L（57㎝～58㎝）サイズを皆使用しています。個人差がありますので、スポーツショップで一度測ることをオススメします。

私たちのチームはMサイズで問題ないだろうと見切り発車してしまい、未使用のMサイズの帽子がチームにはいくつか残っています。こうならない様に気を付けて下さい。

サイズが不安な場合はアジャスターにしてもいいでしょう。

どうしてもニューエラ社の帽子で作りたい人向け

ニューエラキャップのロゴ無しを購入し、刺繍屋でチームのロゴを入れてもらう方法です。

ただ、汗の吸汗性は気をつけましょう。一般用の帽子なので、吸汗性はスポーツキャップに比べると劣ります。夏場は汗でビチョビチョになるという事も考えられます。

私もこのやり方は考えましたが、あくまで用途は野球で使用するので、吸汗性も兼ね備えたSSKで作りました。

まとめ

チームメイトに、SSKの帽子を持って行ったときの評判は良かったです。現在はチームの約半数がニューエラスタイルになりました。

ニューエラスタイルにしたいと思っていた人は是非SSKで作ってみてはいかがでしょうか。ひとつからでも作成できるので、個人的に作る事も可能ですよ。
繰り返しになりますが、サイズには気をつけてオーダーして下さい。
